Internally, the project has been known as Office 15 but Microsoft is not planning to interrupt their standardized nomenclatures and will launch today the "Office 2013". This will be an eight-friendly Windows version of Office Suite.
The user interface and new features touchscreen.
We already know that Microsoft is preparing a version of Office for ARM (with two versions, traditional and Metro) but so far we do not know if the version designed for the x86 architecture will look the same or has the same functions and Web applications that will incorporate (some examples here).
We had heard that the surprise of the press conference would be about MS Office 2013, and the banners viewed - reported by ithome site - in San Francisco, site of today's announcement, seemed to confirm this information.
What do we know the news?
While, for sure, Microsoft never wanted to give up its feature set more complex and refined, always failed to make their product simpler, in that regard. It was not even presented an introduction to the interface "Ribbon" at its launch in Office 2007, which would have indicated new and outstanding features. Everything came at once, forcing the user to an additional effort to adapt.
It is hoped that Office 2013 is more focused on simplicity of use and that fits with the good news of the Windows interface Metro 8, left more than hand the "Ribbon".
Microsoft also hopes to talk about the new capabilities / features "touch" that will allow a better interaction with the Office and which users are accustomed.
These are some of the innovations that can be confirmed, but today, we expect more, because PJ Hough - Microsoft's Corporate VP of Program Management for Office - said "this is the" most transformational release "of Office."
