Review: Asus tablets Prime Transformer TF201 & Pad TF300TG

It was a little over a year since Asus brought a new and different concept associated with the tablets. In any tablet, the screen space required to attach the keyboard and the added difficulty of interaction with this keyboard were left a little short for some people, the usefulness of mobile devices, primarily for the production of content. Yes, the tablets are not just for entertainment and leisure!

The last two models of the Transformer, the Prime Eee Pad TF201 and TF300, TF101 Eee Pad's successors, were launched with a difference of five months and are quite similar. We looked at both models and we will clarify their differences, similarities and their problems.

1 – Inicial News
Asus, since its first Eee Pad Transformer TF101, marks a position in this "sub-category" of tablets, those who no longer a simple tablet and instantly become a netbook. It was released later the Asus Prime Transformer TF201, as equipment quality "premium", brought with him - inadvertently - some problems of a technical nature. They spent five months and there is a new model, the Transformer TF300 that, despite not having the "premium touch" Prime Transformer TF201, can replace it without any problems.

2 – Características e comparação dos modelos
First of all leave a little note on the two letters in the model TF300TG. The TF300 series comprises three models: TF300T with only Wi-Fi (such as the TF201), TF300TG that has Wi-Fi and 3G and TF300TL to be launched this month and that will support 4G LTE (only for North America , South Korea and Japan), possibly with a dual-core processor Nvidia Tegra SoC because the 3 does not support LTE.

The characteristics of both models differ slightly, with advantage to the Prime Transformer (except as GPS). However, in general, the differences are not large and almost unnoticed. I leave a table that summarizes the characteristics.

3 – Display Quality
Something I disappointed both tablets, and similarly with the same intensity, was the quality of the screen. I believe that the resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, although it is not anything extraordinary, it is reasonable, however the problem is with the colors that the screen is capable of playing.

Note that the colors are faded, rather weak, unbalanced and poor. Do not know if the screen is a defect or a problem in tuning the saturation of the image, which I know is that upset me to see some pictures very distorted compared to its true color.

Prime Transformer put side by side with the old Samsung Galaxy 7 "P1000, with a TFT LCD screen, and although not much note in the photos below that I leave, it is still possible to give an idea of the problem in tablets and Asus Transformer TF201 TF300.

It's like a sticky paper pasted on top of the screen, which makes the colors dull and masks, boxes similar to those who spend days and days in shop windows and the colors are dead ...
It is a note.

4 – Problems in GPS on Transformer Prime: Works really bad?
The case of the problem of GPS Prime Transformer was quite funky. A tablet that had so longed for a way out, either by quad-core Tegra 3 for the quality or "premium", and soon after left much to be desired with a problem, apparently, engineering. Reportedly, GPS dongles were distributed to those who requested them, so try to overcome the problem of low signal intensity in internal GPS module.

I myself have tested and, although they note that there is less uptake signal intensity than normal, everything worked properly and smoothly.

I tested it side by side again with the Galaxy Tab P1000, first inside and then on the street, slightly cloudy sky conditions.

Inside, the Prime Transformer could not fix no satellites while the Galaxy Tab managed to get position. Out in the street, while the signal at Prime is a bit less intense, there was no problem in obtaining a position quickly.

If the problem was actually Prime Transformer in this, then it seems to me that there was too much fuss. But perhaps some had even less ability to capture, do not know. Regarding Wi-Fi not noticed any problem.
